Bhagavad Gita 6.34

Even Arjuna found his mind as hard to hold as the wind. If yours feels that way, you are in good company.

Bhagavad Gita · Chapter 6, Verse 34

चञ्चलं हि मनः कृष्ण प्रमाथि बलवद्दृढम्।
तस्याहं निग्रहं मन्ये वायोरिव सुदुष्करम्॥

cañcalaṁ hi manaḥ kṛṣṇa pramāthi balavad dṛḍham
tasyāhaṁ nigrahaṁ manye vāyor iva su-duṣkaram

Translation

The mind is restless, Krishna — turbulent, powerful and stubborn. I think it is as hard to control as the wind.

हिन्दी भावार्थ

हे कृष्ण, यह मन बड़ा चंचल, विचलित करने वाला, बलवान और हठी है। इसे वश में करना मुझे वायु को रोकने जैसा कठिन लगता है।

In simple words Interpretation

Even Arjuna found his mind as hard to hold as the wind. If yours feels that way, you are in good company.

Context

These are Arjuna's words — an honest admission that the mind is hard to calm. Krishna does not dismiss him; he answers in the next verse.

When this may help

When you feel you're 'bad' at calming down, or your thoughts feel impossible to manage.

Reflection question

What would change if you stopped blaming yourself for a restless mind?

A small practice

Today, when your mind races, simply notice: "Wind." No need to stop it.
